    A great combo

    This is the same selection as you can find on the earlier \"Karajan Edition\" compilation with two of Eliette's \"Blue Splosh\" specials on the cover and in the booklet and with the difference that instead of Dvorak's \"Scherzo capriccioso\" we have \"Mazeppa\", a typically diffuse, episodic and bombastic symphonic poem by Liszt, for which Karajan makes the best possible case.

    Very good performances let down by harsh remastered sound compared with previous LP issues

    I specifically sought out this DG Originals release in order to re-acquaint myself with the superlative Karajan/Berlin Philharmonic reading of Smetana's Vysehrad, one of the five symphonic poems of Smetana's "Ma Vlast" cycle.

    Not the version I hoped to find

    Disk quality is fine, and if you just like to listen to Classical Music you may be happy with the selection.

    Run-of-the-mill

    I think these tone poems require more passion and emotion than von Karajan exhibits.

    Excelente

    Mi director favorito es Eugene Ormandy pero de ningun modo podre y yo creo que otra persona podra desmerecer el valor de la excelencia de la dictadora mano de Karajan y el sonido envidiable de su Berliner Philharmoniker.
