Perfect cake plate with dome. The platter has a small lip which keeps the dome secure. When looking online, I was concerned that the dome would not be tall enough for a tall cake. I made a four layer 9" cake with a good amount of frosting between the layers and overall outside and the dome fit perfectly without touching the top or sides. This is a keeper and the overall the quality is very nice and light weight. I have been looking for over a year for a cake carrier. Round ball on top of dome is small, but not difficult at all to grab hold of. This platter fit nicely in my frig. with dome cover. Platter is very nice. You could also use to server cheese, crackers, etc. This is a keeper. Each piece was wrapped in plastic and then in bubble wrap and good packing. No issues with it being damages, as mentioned in other posts.

I have bought two glass domes in my life, they have lasted me a long time but would eventually break. Especially when my nephews where young, they would pick up the heavy glass top and sometimes it would slip and crack. I was also scared that it would fall on their toes. So I went online looking for a nice quality plastic dome to display my sweet bread & cookies. I found this and purchased it. It arrived almost on the same week (on free shipping option)!! It looks like real glass and is very sturdy. I have received all kinds of compliments on it. And I'm not scared when my nephews come over to open it, it's not heavy and it won't easily break. I'm happy I bought it.

Very, very disappointed! Do yourself a favor and check when you receive. Bought in November, 2016 and I kept it in basement in original wrapping. Just opened April 1, 2017 to make cake for my mom and there's 3 cracks in the top. Wish I was more careful and checked when I bought it. The window to return closed in January. For the amount of money I paid, you'd think someone would have a little more pride in their product. Garbage!!!

This is a great cake plate. I wanted one without a pedestal for easier storage both in cupboards and in the fridge. And I wanted a plastic one rather than glass. The bottom rim of the cake plate is high enough so that the dome will not easily slip off when moving it about from fridge to countertop, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that it came with a slight crack that seems to have started at the knob on top. This crack probably didn't happen because of packing - the packing for this was some of the best I've seen for a breakable item. There was layer upon layer of bubble wrap and foam. So maybe it's the nature of the hole for the knob screw. In any case, I'm using it and loving it.
