Registration is perfect with my Sieg C3 mini lathe. I didn't measure the runout because it is what it is, and I'm not going to pay the ~$130 for a similar part from someone else.
What I did do, was chuck-up a piece of 3/4" inch brass rod, and with about 3" sticking out of the collet, I turned it down to ~1/2" and then measured the diam at 3" and then near the collet face; the result was excellent! Both measurements were 0.5505", to within the max precision of my micrometer, virtually 0 taper -- Normally, even with my four jaw chuck, I'll have a hard time getting the part aligned perfectly near chuck and at end, so I almost always get some coning, and that produces a taper...That's 100% resolved with a collet chuck, because everything is on axis within the precision of the headstock and collet setup.
It's also super easy to securely hold small diameter parts without messing up the finish, no more copper shims needed to protect part!
And lastly, if you take the part out and then put it back, the alignment stays mechanically the same, no more tweaking the four jaw to get it back to the original setup.
This collet chuck is excellent quality and fantastic value for home shops, and will allow you to machine parts that are as good as your lathe and setup are capable of...Don't forget to get a few standard ER-32 collets and an ER-32 collet wrench while you're at it -- You really need the wrench!
